Over my 15 years in graphic design I've had a lot of clients and wide variety of projects – layout for a 36-page bi-monthly print magazine, countless flyers, posters, programs, logos, signage and t-shirts. However, my first ever project for my very first client was a 40 lb. bag of dog food. It was Kahoots Feed & Pet Stores' initial foray into their own private label business and I went on to design packaging for over 150 products for them. One of the most fun things about designing for Kahoots was how much I could contribute to the final design. Not only did I design the graphic elements that went on the bag, the label or the hangtag, I was given the freedom to name products, write romance copy, and come up with fun tag-lines. This often turned into utilizing my skills for marketing pieces and campaigns as well. Bringing a fun and playful approach to design in a way that centers the humanity of the customer and hopefully elicits a smile, a smirk or a chuckle is what makes it all so gratifying.
